After interviewing all of the witnesses to the accident, it was apparent that a jury would find the defendant guilty of the offense.

The Case Was Unwinnable

The State was asking 20 years so Tom decided to plead guilty and go to the Jury for punishment. The Defendant was a young professional who had an unblemished history prior to the accident. The Jury decided to assess a four year punishment.
